Felix B. Sainz, Jr. is an in-demand electric and upright bassist, vocalist/classic guitarist from Phoenix, Arizona. He has over 35 years of professional experience in the performing arts and performs in a variety of genres. Felix has performed with a multitude of artists in local, regional, national, and international venues. Felix is comfortable working in many settings whether he serenades an intimate dinner cruise or provides music for weddings and receptions, As well as special events at an art gallery or wine bar as a solo, or as an integral and tasteful accompanist in a duo. As a bandleader, Felix can tailor the repertoire to suit the theme of any event and can also augment the diversity and energy of the performance by adding the finest available performers as additional members. Whether it's a Jazz trio, variety dance band, swing big band for corporate events, or performing at an outdoor concert in front of thousands of people Felix is comfortable in all of the above.
As a session player, Felix has recorded with many artists and is proficient in many styles and techniques. He enjoys collaborating with others and strives to deliver his contribution with artistic finesse as a studio musician and /or producer to any project. For decades has been on the roster of studio musicians at Chaton, Tempest, Clamsville, Choice Productions, Brick Road and many other fine recording studios and performed in live and studio settings for the campuses of the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences. Felix is also an experienced educator and clinician and has performed in music workshops for schools including K-12 and post secondary education all around the Southwestern U.S. including a Jazz concert and music workshop in Hermosillo, Mexico. Over the years, he has performed with various artists for workshops, clinics, seminars and programs offered on the music roster for the Arizona Commission on the Arts and the Wolf Trap Arts Education & Outreach music programs for children at the Herberger Theatre in Phoenix and Scottsdale Center for the Arts. Felix also continues to share his knowledge and expertise with private music instruction for all ages currently offered in his personal music studio.
Along with working primarily as a bassist, Felix is also capable of performing as a solo on classical guitar and accompanying his smooth multilingual vocals in English, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese. As a solo, Felix specializes in a variety of easy listening, American songbook classics by artists Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Armando Manzanero, James Taylor, Sting and many more. Each performance is crafted in a unique fusion of popular Jazz standards and Latin rhythms such as Bossa Novas, Rhumba, Mambo and, Cha cha, as well as Blues, Funk, Soul, RnB, and contemporary themes. Felix's goal is to provide an engaging yet subtle enhancement to the aesthetic theme of your event with the objective of providing a pleasant and memorable musical experience suitable for any occasion.
