Gays Mills Held their 27th annual Folk Festival of Music and Dance, May 10th, 11th, and 12th. This year’s Fest featured performances by Lou Shields, Tricia Spencer and Howard Rains, and Sweet Sheiks.

Rain did not stop May Pole dancing featuring musicians Tim Jenkins on fiddle, Jane Keeley on banjo, Riley Worrell on guitar, and Dave Gibbs playing clarinet.

Under the Kickapoo Cultural Exchange, the annual event focuses on folk music that has long been a part of the Driftless area.

Along with the featured artists, several open 'Jam Sessions' were held thought the weekend.

In addition to food sales during the festival, committee member Jessie Downs, of rural Readstown, WI, said the Folk Fest committee holds an annual pie sale in the fall to help raise funds for the next year’s event.

The festival committee members are; Jane Keely, Bill Spears, Kevin Dohse, Mia Sondreal, Jessie Downs, and Christina Dollhausen.
