Hillsboro Brewing Company receives new sign
The Hillsboro Brewing Company (HBC) has a beautiful new location and a new sign installed by BL Signs LLC of Richland Center, Wisconsin.
The historic building, built in 1914, houses a brewery, bar, restaurant and events center. The building originally housed a condensed milk packing plant.
Hillsboro High School alumnus, and class of 1968 Valedictorian Penne Pacl Rush, recalls riding to the plant with her grandfather Stanley Novy in the early 1950s. He would deliver milk from his farm to the plant.
The Carnation Milk Company, which operated the plant, advertised their condensed milk as being “from contented cows.” As a tribute to that slogan, Snapper and Kim Verbsky, owners of HBC, brew a milk stout they call ‘Contented Cow’.
