The Lodge at Mauston shares Christmas cheer with Open House
Owners of The Lodge at Mauston, Ron and Barb Brunner, welcomed the general public last Sunday, with a holiday themed open house.
Guests were treated to hot cider, coffee, chocolate, an array of Christmas cookies, and a small buffet featuring Chef Jeremy’s meatballs in several different sauces. The Lodge’s lounge offered up free adult beverages in the form of Bartender Jills’ Tom Collins.
A self-guided tour of the entire facility, included the standard luxury rooms, event center, indoor pool, and expansive exercise room.
General Manager Lance Massey said he was pleased with the turn out that saw locals and people from surrounding areas enjoying some Christmas cheer. “We are just happy to show off this addition to Juneau county. The open house has a great turn out and its a great way for The Lodge at Mauston to get the word out about us.”
Jennifer Clough of Mauston, and Sandy Shanahan from New Lisbon seemed amazed with The Lodge. “I think it’s flipping awesome! This is my first time out here and I am very, very impressed. Nice, simple, nothing fancy-dancy, but it’s B-E-A-utiful! It is just beautiful. It’s nice how they have it set up where you can have three different parties in the conference center. The rooms are beautiful. Jill (bartender) is awesome. The service is great and so are the people that work here. Nikki took us on a little tour and explained everything to us and she was awesome,” Shanahan exclaimed. “It’s absolutely gorgeous. They did an awesome job! We needed something like this in this area. I have been here to the steakhouse and it was amazing. I have no complaints. The service is great. Everyone is so pleasing. They want to make sure you are good. I’ll be back,” Clough said.
Steve Kibler an employee of the Brunners who works in Mauston, brought his wife Jody and son Nathan out to get the grand tour of the Brunners newest addition. “We came in for the open house today because I saw it (posted) at work. We wanted to check out the rooms since we haven’t seen them yet,” he said. Jody noted that they came out for dinner at the The Lodge’s restaurant The Spur when it first opened. “I think it’s great. It’s a very high-class place. I really like it. We had dinner here right after it opened and it was excellent.” Their son Nathan added, “So far, what I’ve seen, I like the architecture. I like looking at how it was designed. I really like how it’s put together, the random detail in the centers of the roofs and the chandeliers around it. It’s kind of like a calming area.”
With countless children enjoying the food and cookies, the arrival of Santa Claus took center stage in front of the grand fireplace. Santa listened to children’s gift wishes, provided a photo op, and Santa’s helpers gave each child a gift. The excitement was infectious.
Massey, in a post on The Lodge’s Facebook page said, “Thank you to everyone, and we mean everyone who came out to our first open house at The Lodge at Mauston. It would take up too much space to name everyone who helped out, so thank you to all our staff and volunteers. The crowds were huge (and so were Chef Jeremy's Meatballs!!). We hope everyone sincerely enjoyed their time touring something we are very proud of showing off! And a special thank you to Ron & Barb Brunner for this beautiful gem in Juneau County!”
