An offshoot of Fermentation Fest and the Farm/Art Dtour in Sauk County, the Native American Arts Marketplace featured authentic Native art, crafts, storytelling, and food over the first two weekends of this month.

I was recently privileged to join local author Helga Moser and her family in their rural Hillsboro home. The Sunday afternoon visit reaffirmed my optimism about the strength of family, the power of reading to impart life lessons, and the values of service for both the server and the served.

What may seem a long time ago, but just yesterday for those that were there, this war, by any measure has been referred to as the most controversial conflict in United States history. A war in which countless men and women, some as young as seventeen, found themselves in Southeast Asia, in a place called Vietnam.

Torgerson’s Viroqua organic farm hosts Vernon County Dairy Breakfast

This year’s event was held at the Torgerson farm located a short drive outside of downtown Viroqua, Wisconsin. Over 2000 people attended this year’s event that featured kid activities, live music from local artists ‘The Lovelys’, a grilled cheese contest, and tractors on display that were part of the Bill Ripley Jr. Memorial Ride. I would be remiss not to mention the traditional breakfast of eggs, sausage, pancakes, yogurt and of course milk served to guests.
