All in Wisconsin Festivals
Held during the opening weekend of Fermentation Fest’s Farm/Art Dtour in Sauk County, Wisconsin, the Native American Art Marketplace featured authentic Native art, crafts, and food, October 5th and 6th.
Often referred to as the radio station of the Driftless, WDRT has been on air since 2010. As a community radio station, WDRT is, for the most part, a volunteer-based station. This past weekend, the station celebrated community by holding their first ‘Block Party’.
Having spent years learning sort as an understudy of the late Hoocąk (Ho-Chunk) artist and sculptor Harry Whitehorse, Gene Delcourt is determined to make sure that Whitehorse’s work and life are never forgotten. Delcourt, half Abenaki and half Filipino, is a wood sculptor who developed the idea for an annual event to honor and memorialize Whitehorse’s life and impact on the art community worldwide.
Many have served our country in the military, whether volunteering or having been drafted. When people join the military, all take a sacred oath giving themselves to the service of the country becoming GIs (Government Issue). Not to be cliché, all gave some, but some gave all.
I met the Lovelys back in 2019 when covering the Vernon County Dairy breakfast at the Dale and Brenda Torgerson Farm. While the Lovelys were performing, I stood for a while listening to them sing. There was something about them singing together that just made me feel good and smile.
Mention Iowa and people think of factory farms or the presidential caucus siege. Luckily there’s more to the Hawkeye state. The Northeast corner of Iowa is located in the Driftless and well worth a visit.

Going on its 10th year and after a two-year hiatus, the ever popular, free eclectic music, the Driftless Music Festival (DMF) returns to Eckhart Park in Viroqua on Saturday, July 9.
